Nakajima Bonsai

Kanta is originally from Nagano, Japan and began working in the landscaping industry in Japan at the age of 18. At 22, he moved to Canada and continued his career as a Japanese landscaper, specializing in pruning and plant care. During this time, he discovered bonsai and gradually became captivated by its depth and artistry. Inspired particularly by Mr. Kasai’s work and the values expressed through Toshoen, he made the bold decision to return to Japan in 2024 to formally apprentice under him. After six months of intensive training, he returned to Canada with a renewed passion and a mission to share authentic bonsai culture abroad.

Since then, Kanta and his team have held demonstrations and workshops throughout the year, including events with the BC Bonsai Society, the Vancouver Island Bonsai Society, private workshops, and pop-ups at local cafés. Based in Langley, he continues to work toward his goal of establishing his own bonsai nursery and spreading the beauty and spirit of bonsai across Canada.
